Continuous spring steel boning measuring 11mm wide by 0.7mm thick (steel cross section of 10mm x 0.35mm). This type of boning flexes forwards and back, but not side to side. It is nylon coated to prevent rusting.
This boning is moderately stiff. It is highly appropriate for hoops and bustles (see Pattern - hoops and bustles). It can also be used in some corsets requiring wider, more flexible boning.
Sold by the metre, you are able to cut to the lengths you require - best done with a set of tin snips or bolt cutters. Note that the ends will need to be filed down and tipped to prevent the bone wearing through fabric.
